How to Bury Negative Reddit Posts That Are Hurting Your Brand

A subreddit you run is one of the few places online where you own both the audience and the archive. What gets posted there stays up, stays searchable, and keeps working long after the day you wrote it. It answers questions for people who haven't contacted you yet, and it shapes what someone finds when they go looking for your business.

That's worth building even if you're already active in the bigger communities where your customers spend time, and you should stay active there. The two do different jobs. Established subreddits are where new people find you. Yours is where they land once they're curious enough to look you up.

Soft Mentions vs Hyperlinks

Most comments that get removed read like marketing. Reddit is unusually good at spotting that, and moderators remove it on sight. The fixable part is how you write, so start there.

Commenting Best Practices

Why do my comments keep getting removed by moderators?

Most marketing advice on Reddit is guesswork, but we think we’ve fixed that. We looked at the comments and posts on reddit made from Engain over the last month and compared the ones still active to the ones moderators and AutoMod removed. The differences are consistent and most are not due to your product.
